1 Portage Septr. 16th 1889 Dear David, The fine view of your handsome new home and your family so very beautifully
arranged in front as well as the shaggy pony - arrived safely. We are all delighted with the whole thing one or two remarked
that you looked more solumn than usual. I expect it caused you a good deal of anxiety to get all arranged to fit your mind
2 I decided to have the picture framed and expect to have it done this week. Thank you for your kindness in sending it.
Joannas recovery is very slow think but the baby grows remarkably well her name is Bernice Walter is still in Philadelphia
and will be for a good while yet. I understand Anna E. Muir Anne Reid at Lincoln during the fair. We hear very little about
John Reid.
