1216 Chestnut St Oakland 5/19 illegible 15? May ca. 1908 Mr John Muir Muir Stn Calif Dear Sir - I have a Son 13
years of age, who I wish him to get a knowledge of Nature Am therefore writing to ask you if you could arrange to take charge
of him for a few weeks this summer either at your home or on any trip you may now be contemplating on which you could take
him. He is in good health and quite obedient as to manners he is fairly well possessed In case you can consider this what
would be the entire expense for from 2 to 4 weeks? If you will give me a prompt reply I shall be? greatly obliged also state
if you wish references. Very Truly S. M. Griffin Isn't this a capital monumental proof of the growth of outdoorishness?
