Los Angeles. Cal., July 30, 1910. 325 West Adams Street. Darling Helen:- Glad to hear you are getting strong again and
that you have come through the hot spell with growing strength. I was especially pleased with your account of your excursion
to a mine on a hill a mile high where you gained five pounds in five days. You should go up five days of each week for a year
and if you gain at the same rate you will finally become plump. The papers are all full of sad stories of destructive heat
in the great cities, and it is pleasant to think that even in the hottest and windiest desert where there is sufficient elbow
room one may get through even the hottest spells with no great suffering. I am sending you with this check for 125.00, hoping
that it will prove sufficient for all your needs until the next time. Your devoted father, ILLEGIBLE
