1419 Taylor St. San Francisco; May 5th, 1878. Dear Strentzels, I got slowly safely back, in time to see the Swetts off
for Shasta. A boat arrived at the Martinez wharf just as the Doctor got me down. I went aboard, but was turned back by a guardian
angel, in the form of a black whickered man? who informed me in time that his boat went to Sacramento. The right craft came
at 5 o clock. Helen left this morning, the house is in everyway most illegible fully dull, I wont stay in it, will go into
the woods, perhaps about illegible , will see more trees. Helens life illegible very beautifully about the cherries. The granite
blossoms dame down in fine bush condition. I go in about two weeks to my regular summers work, In the mountain dont feel like
writing, will go for 8 or 10 days anywhere, I will not forget your kindness in margin: Very Truly your friend John Muir
