William F. Bade, Berkeley, Cal. Dear Dr. Bade:- I have your letter of Oct. 17th. I have indeed seen the editorial in
the INDEPENDENT of Oct. 13th and enjoyed its reading greatly. It was called to my attention the other evening by Mr. William
M. Ellicott, of Baltimore. He had been on the program at the Conservation Congress to read a paper entitled THE PROPOSAL FOR
A NATIONAL FOREST ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF WASHINGTON and it was an article which would have presented some of the things we
stand for, but it was crowded out by the more material and political phases of the Conference. I understand that it is being
printed in a report. I may say to you rather confidentially that I think Mr. Ellicott was quite disappointed at not having
it presented and he told me that he was writing a letter to the INDEPENDENT along the line of your editorial, which, by the
way, I had concluded at once you had written. I went over to Baltimore to see Mr. Ellicott and have secured his promise to
give us that paper which he will illustrate with stereopticon pictures at our convention to be held in Washington, December
14th, 15th and 16th.I sent over 06305
