Martinez Nov. 25, 1914 Dear Mr Shepardson: I have always admired the lively mountaineers of the south section of the Sierra
Club, and I'm sure none of you can doubt that I would be delighted to join you in your holiday outing But a confounded lot
of work, duties, all sorts of troubles have ruthlessly held me at home ever since I returned from Africa South America. As
soon however as I can find an opening I'll gladly pay you all a visit: And in the meantime whenever any of you are in San
Francisco be sure to come to my house, and always let me know when I can do anything for you. With heartiest greetings all
good wishes I am ever faithfully yours John Muir
