Dipsea Hike for Women
Emma Reimann
Description:
Long time Mill Valley resident, Emma Reimann, is seen on the old road, just east of highway 1, running in the third Women's
Hike. She won that year in 1:16:05. She received two prizes, a silver cup and a pearl necklace. Reimann was the most successful
of all competitors in the pioneering Dipsea Women's Hikes of 1918-1922. She finished second in 1919 and 1920 and was the
only double winner of the Women's Hikes in 1921 and 1922. Reimann's 1922 time of 1:12:06 for the rugged crossing from Mill
Valley to Stinson Beach would not be surpassed until 1969.
