Martinez, Cal., May 22/05. Dear Dr. Merriam:- You seem mortally silent Dorothy told Helen sometime ago that you expected
to come to California soma time this season. When do you expect to start? In a week or two I an going to take Wanda and Helen
to Arizona. Helen's left lung is still sore, but we hope that a summer in the dry desert air will go far towards a cure. Our
first camps will be somewhere along the Southern Pacific R.R., but probably most of the summer will be spent in the petrified
forest region, and near Flagstaff and along the rim of the Grand Canon. It would be delightful to have you with us, or even
to have a mere visit from you in any of our camps. We'll try to keep you posted on our whereabouts. In the meantime let us
hear from you. Address Martinez and Mrs. Muir will forward. With kindest regards to all the family -Baileys, Gilbert etc.
, I am faithfully yours, JOHN MUIR 03555
