marginalia Martinez, July 30, 1896. My dear Sellers. A week or two ago I went through the Yellowstone Park with the
Forestry Commission, almost every step of the way, I was reminded of our fine wild camping trip with Catlin his dispeptic
east or west powder bread, raw frontierism as well as the free jolly time we had. Those good old days have gone never to return.
Now even the bears are tame I stayed with the Commission until a week or so ago when we reached Spokane after examining the
Black Hills forests, those of the Yellowstone the Rocky Mountains generally especially about the headwaters of the Columbia.
