February 28, 1907 R .W . GILDEN, EDITOR. R. U. JOHNSON, ASSOCIATE EDITOR. C. C. BUEL, ASSISTANT EDITOR. My dear
Muir: I have been so extremely busy since the receipt of your letter of the 15th of December that I have not been able to
observe the proprieties of friendship. I have not failed, however, to urge upon the Speaker and upon the Appropriations Committees
of both houses the desirability of giving 100, 000 to the Yo semite . The Sundry Civil Bill containing the item has been passed,
but I do hot know whether the appropriation has been cut down or not. I am trying to find out from Senator Perkins. The only
landscape gardener I know ofis Samuel Parsons, Jr., whom you know, I suppose young Olmsted does that sort of work. James
is here and wishes to see me in regardto the Coolbrith matter, I have subscribed to that fund and sent my book of poems to
be sold and have too many other important things in hand to give any time to him; but I have agreed to see him. How I wish
I could see you again Faithfully yours, illegible Mr. John Muir. 03840
