Los Angeles, Cal., May 7, 1910. Darling Helen:- I am going with Mr. Hooker and three of his friends to the Grand Canyon,
and hope to see you by the way at Barstow. We leave here next Friday morning, May 13th, on the Limited. We will probably stay
at the Canyon three or four days, and therefore I shall expect to get a couple of fifteen minute peeks at you in going and
coming. Houghton Mifflin Company say they want to get out the book My First Summer in the Sierra at once. They seem highly
pleased with it and are asking for illustrations. Hoping to find you and Buel in good health and spirits in spite of desert
heat and cold and cattle diseases, I am, Ever your loving father, illegible 325 West Adams Street.
