December 17, 1901. Dear Mr. Muir, Can you satisfy the curiosity of one of our friends as to the authorship of the verses
that stand at the head of the first chapter of your book? You will be glad to learn that the book is meeting with success,
and I hope you are considering kindly our suggestion concerning your autobiography. Yours sincerely, Mr. John Muir.
