Description:
Pacific Gas & Electric's Gas Plant and Martin Station, 1905. Martin Substation was built in 1905/1906 to provide a steady
supply of electricity for San Francisco's street railway. Unfortunately, the gas engines pulsated, causing irregular generation
of electricity. The plant was abandoned in 1910. It was the only PG&E facility named for John Martin, "the father of PG&E".
