10 My dear Cousin Hay I should have written you long ago when Watsons Doctor came. Have been stupid with work. I'm sorry
to see that Mr. Howie? is to leave us so soon. He was a few weeks at the house, then tried batchelor hall. Made a failure
of housekeeping. Gave up hope of being a fruitraiser went to a Martinez hotel, where he has been waiting for a remittance?
. The cold part of winter is over, Almond Apricot trees in bloom, still he means to try Denver, Colorado. He is looking pretty
well, at present. I hope to get another book out next fall. With cordial regards for all the family I am ever Yours
