ARNOLD ARBORETUM. HARVARD UNIVERSITY. Jamaica Plain, Mass., April 18, 1896 My dear Muir: Thanks for your letter of
the 10th and the notes, newspaper cuttings, etc., all of which will be useful.I am going to Washington tomorrow and shall
organize the Forestry Commission on Tuesday. The appropriation has passed the House all right but is still hung up in the
Senate. I do not, however, feel now any great anxiety about it.I still expect to be in California in the early autumn and
I count on your assistance, advice and companionship there. Always faithfully yours, John Muir, Esq. Martinez, Cala.
