--- 2 --- the Yosemite Reservation through the Yosemite Park to the highways beyond, which, if it becomes a law, will vest
in the general government absolute ownership and control of the main avenues of approach to the Yosemite Valley and Mariposa
Big Tree Grove; and WHEREAS, The best interests of the whole people of the United States, and in particular those resident
on the Pacific Coast, and within the State of California, will be conserved by the recession of the possessions of the State
of California lying within the boundaries of the Yosemite National Park to the general government; therefore, be it Resolved
by the Assembly, the Senate concurring, That His Excellency James H. Budd, as the chief executive officer of the State of
California, be, and he is hereby instructed to take such immediate action as may be necessary to secure the recession by the
State of California to the general government of the United States of the grant lands included within the boundary-lines of
the Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Big Tree Grove, to the end that the said grant lands may be included in, and become a part
of the Yosemite National Park, to be maintained by the general government under the laws governing national parks, and that,
pending the final act or acts of recession, no appropriation of State moneys for the erection of buildings, or for any purpose
other than that expended for the actual cost of maintenance of the Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Big Tree Grove as provided
for in existing statutes of the State of California, shall be made by the Legislature of the State of California in Senate
or Assembly assembled.
