letterhead 19 May 1910. My dear Sir I found your very kind letter and the volume on the National Parks on arriving here
yesterday evening beg to thank you for your great kindness- I shall hope to get to Los Angeles have the chance to see you
before returning north. It will be a great regret if I should fail in this. Meantime Mr Olmstead of the Forest Service has
kindly undertaken to prepare an itinerary for me so that I may visit to advantage the giant Sequoia Redwoods. The Yosemite
Valley I have visited before but should much enjoy seeing it again. It is the most wonderfully lovely region I ever saw -
So much beauty displayed within the 04762 limited area. I have been visiting a very beautiful country in North Idaho
seen in the Priest River forests magnificent mountains White Pine the western Larch - Larix occidentalis, trees which I had
not previously seen is anything like such profusion or size. The combination of forest lake mountain was extremely beautiful
to be enjoyed in a sharp bracing crisp alpine air that is most invigorating. It should prove to be a delightful holiday resort?
- Thanks to the energy company of Mr Pinchot Col. Roosevelt these have been secured from desolation now it is pleasant to
find among so many lumber men timber interests a hearty appreciation of their efforts willingness to cooperate It is very
hopeful. I have no doubt the sheep graziers will be easily dealt with With renewed thanks for your kindness Believe me
sincerely yours Leonard Lyell. 04762
