Portage April 22d 1889 Dear John Another Birth-Day of yours, has come and gone, I have been spared to see your fifty first
year, and I congratulate you and hope you will be spared to see many happy years yet to come I went off this afternoon to
the woods across the Rail Road track to look for a spring flower to send you, but have only found these 01341 2 I hope
your and family are all well, and also Mr. Mrs Strentzel I have not been as well as usual this spring but for the last two
weeks I am nearly quite well again I can now walk about as far as I used to do We are all well as usual here Sincere love
