Martinez, January, 17, 1895. Dear Cousin, I received your letter of the 22d of last month; also the copy of the Scotsman
with the review of my book for which I thank you. I'm glad you find the book interesting. In it I have tried to describe
explain what a traveler would see for himself if he were to come here go over the ranges through the forests as I have done.
We are having heavy rains this winter. It is raining just now the streams are roaring, not so loud though as the winds waves
among the Dunbar rocks. I should greatly enjoy a grand storm there. I remember seeing the waves dashing over the harbor once
