October 7 Dear Dr. Bird, Thank you for your very kind letter and the many kind favors. I sincerely appreciate all that you
have done. During my stay at Occidental I was very much impressed by your attitude towards all things. I am very sorry that
I cannot finish my course and be among those who have already graduated and are known as graduates of Occidental. However,
I do hope and pray that in the near future I may be privileged to study at your college again. My stay at Santa Anita camp
has been profitable in spite of the hardships and numerous difficulties. Now as I go on to Jerome, Arkansas, I do hope that
we can do something constructive. As to my future plans, I don't know if I'll be able to continue with my education this semester
or next. However, I would like to go on to some school next autumn. Where, I don't know. There is so much to do along religious
activities, that I hesitate to make immediate plans to continue with my education. I realize more than ever the need of helping
to spread the Christian message. So what little I can do, I am determined to do my best. Thanking you again, I am Gratefuly
