THE WORLD'S WORK FARMING DOUBLEDAY PAGE CO. 133-135-137 EAST 16TH STREET, NEW YORK COUNTRY LIFE IN AMERICA THE
GARDEN MAGAZINE October 5, 1908. My dear Mr. Muir: Your good note from Daggett has just reached me. Heaven bless you
and favor you in your good drive forward to get this great literature out of your system sent the great reading world not
only of our generation but of generations to come in all my bedevilment of you. I thank you heartily, too, for that photograph.
I prize it very highly. Let our friend Strother have free rein. He is a clever boy and, of course, absolutely trustworthy.
He has a good literary knack and feeling, too. As one evidence of his ability and fineness of spirit, he puts a proper appreciation
upon the literature that you produce. Therefore, be good to him. Always heartily yours ILLEGIBLE John Muir, Esq., Martinez,
