1 Menlo Park, 9 July, '14 Dear Friend, I am wondering how you are? Much better, I hope, than when I saw you. I am thinking
of going away and should much like to see you again first. Tell me frankly whether it would be convenient for me to come (I
had thought of Saturday, going returning same day: I suppose there is a week-end reduction of fare on the Santa Fe)? I have
a dear and very modest friend, Howard Hale of the English Dep't here, whom 05791 2 I should like to bring to see you,
if you don't object - He is a dear fellow,- one of your many admirers. Indeed, I had thought of him as a companion on the
trip we talked of, having been in the mountains with him more than once. But be frank don't let us bore you, dear man Affectionately
yours, Melville B Anderson Mr John Muir- 05791
