No. 1 Fremont Street, east side, beginning 137 ft. south of Market; walls settled and basement floor forced up during earthquake.
As here shown, walls have been removed above concrete work, leaving earthquake effects exposed. We are driving piles in lot
next, northward, and find they drive very easily to depth of 38 to 42 ft. +-, thus showing the softness of foundation. W.
