The Willie G. Bass Collection (1945-2006; undated bulk: 1970s-1980s) contains two boxes and two linear feet of clippings,
articles, publications, and other material presumably compiled by Bass. A majority of the collection comprises of one scrapbook
featuring clippings from the
Los Angeles Times and
Los Angeles Sentinel regarding current events of that time (1970s-1980s) in relation to sports, arts, society, local events, television, music,
animals, education, weather, transportation, and other topics. This collection also contains Radio and Television Training
School lesson plans, study guides, exams, and notes; one Watts Summer Festival program; issues of
Soviet Life;
Sentinel 50;
The American Negro;
The Negro;
Ebony; a New York City, and Los Angeles atlas;and a few loose documents, and photographs.
Biographical / Historical
Willie Glenn Bass (1931-2019) was a Los Angeles resident. He had three siblings: Lucille, Bennie and Riley; daughters Glynis
L. Bass, Temi R. Bass and Alice M. Cox (Maurice); and a grandson William Cox. Bass was in the United States Army and served
in Korea.
