Abstract: This collection contains one scrapbook with mostly Los Angeles Times clippings; Radio and Television Training School lesson plans, study guides, exams, notes; one Watts Summer Festival program; issues of Soviet Life; Sentinel 50; The American Negro; The Negro; Ebony; a New York City, and Los Angeles atlas; as well as a few loose documents, and photographs. Material belonged to Willie G. Bass, and was presumably compiled by him.

Scope and Contents

The Willie G. Bass Collection (1945-2006; undated bulk: 1970s-1980s) contains two boxes and two linear feet of clippings, articles, publications, and other material presumably compiled by Bass. A majority of the collection comprises of one scrapbook featuring clippings from the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Sentinel regarding current events of that time (1970s-1980s) in relation to sports, arts, society, local events, television, music, animals, education, weather, transportation, and other topics. This collection also contains Radio and Television Training School lesson plans, study guides, exams, and notes; one Watts Summer Festival program; issues of Soviet Life; Sentinel 50; The American Negro; The Negro; Ebony; a New York City, and Los Angeles atlas;and a few loose documents, and photographs.

Biographical / Historical

Willie Glenn Bass (1931-2019) was a Los Angeles resident. He had three siblings: Lucille, Bennie and Riley; daughters Glynis L. Bass, Temi R. Bass and Alice M. Cox (Maurice); and a grandson William Cox. Bass was in the United States Army and served in Korea.

Scope and Contents

This scrapbook contains clippings mostly from the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Sentinel regarding current events of that time in relation to sports, arts, society, local events, television, music, animals, education, weather, transportation, and other subjects. Also included in this scrapbook are a note from Bass' daughter to Bass, advertisements, and loose pages found in the scrapbook that contain an issue of The Final Call Vol. 10, No. 10, National Enquirer (May 4, 1982), and a cover of Ebony magazine featuring images from "The 100 Most Influential Blacks" cover story (May 1976).
