    Biographical / Historical

    Sir John Betjeman (1906-1984) was an English poet, writer, and broadcaster; he was Poet Laureate from 1972 to 1984. Betjeman also campaigned extensively to preserve Victorian architecture and a founding member of The Victorian Society. Morchard Bishop was the pseudonym of Oliver Stoner; he was an English novelist, reviewer, translator, and man of letters.

    Scope and Contents

    A collection of letters written by John Betjeman to Morchard Bishop which concern various writing and architectural projects that Betjeman was involved with over the years. The collection also includes 37 photocopied letters written by Bishop to Betjeman.
