Description
Humphrey Anthony papers (SAFR 14287, HDC 79) consists of three letters from Anthony, a New Bedford whaling outfitter, to his wife written from shipboard in San Francisco Bay. Writes about daily activities of organizing a company to mine gold. Gives good descriptions of San Francisco and his observations of the gold rush. This collection has been processed to the collection level and is open for use without restriction.
