Description
This collection contains the principal founding, corporation and administrative documents of the Carmel Development Company. Between 1900 & 1910 the Carmel Development Company purchased multiple parcels of real estate from various land holders in order to create large tracts that were subdivided into blocks & lots. The original footprints of what would become the incorporated City of Carmel-by-the-Sea in 1916 and the unincorporated Carmel Highlands were subsequently enlarged as the Carmel Development Company created, improved, and subdivided multiple additions. The collection is substantially supplemented by original maps, brochures, photographs and ephemera spanning from 1891 through 1997.
