Description
This collection is comprised of eight boxes of 35 mm color slides of diesel locomotives collected by Atchison, Topeka & Santa
Fe Railway employee Richard Scholz and taken between 1964 and 2000. There are over 1,300 slides of Atchison, Topeka & Santa
Fe Railway and 350 slides of Union Pacific freight locomotives in this collection.
Background
As a long-time employee of the Santa Fe Railway in Chicago, Richard Scholz was able to save papers, letters related to steam
appliance suppliers, blueprints, folios covering all aspects of steam engines plus cars that Santa Fe was disposing of. Upon
his death, he donated this material (23 tons) to The Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society.
