Biographical / Historical
Roy Huggins (1914-2002) was an American novelist and blacklisted television writer and producer known for his production company
Roy Huggins - Public Arts Productions' work on
Maverick (1957-1962),
The Fugitive (1963-1967), and
The Rockford Files (1974-1980). Huggins became a noted writer and producer under his own name, but due to his involvement with the Communist
party and investigation by the House Un-American Activities Committee much of his later television script writing was done
using the pseudonyms Thomas Fitzroy, John Thomas James, or John Francis O'Mara.
Scope and Contents
Materials in this collection are scripts and drafts for various television programs ranging from 1965-1976 associated with
Universal Television productions and Roy Huggins - Public Arts Productions. Some programs represented are
Run for Your Life (1965-1968),
The Bold Ones: The Lawyers (1969-1972), and
Captains and Kings (1972).
