This collection was transferred and accessioned from the library to the museum and archival collections in 2016. Originally
received from Thea Snyder Lowry, daughter of Harold Alton Snyder, in 1998.
Historical or Biographical Note
Harold Alton Snyder (August 26, 1900-December 23, 1968) was born in Seattle, Washington. He served as a crewmember aboard
H.F. ALEXANDER (built 1914; passenger vessel) in the early 1920s. He had two children, son Gary (1930- ) and daughter Anthea
(1932-2002).
Collection Scope and Content
The Harold Alton Snyder photograph collection, circa 1919-1925, (SAFR 24848, P16-012) is comprised mainly of photographs taken
during voyages aboard H.F. ALEXANDER (built 1914; passenger vessel). The collection has been processed to the Collection level
and is open for use.
Contains 11 photographs (10 black-and-white photographic prints and 1 black-and-white nitrate negative) of Harold Alton Snyder
as a crewmember aboard H.F. ALEXANDER (built 1914; passenger vessel), circa 1919-1925. Includes photographs of the vessel,
Snyder, other crewmembers, and local scenes near Panama City, Panama.
