This collection consists of materials created by Joel Peter Johnson, a graphic designer. The materials also include correspondence, awards, invoices, pamphlets, posters, newsletters, articles about Joel P. Johnson, and a small amount of photographs.

Joel Peter Johnson (born Bronx, New York) is a painter, graphic designer, illustrator, lecturer, photographer, and art director. Since 1987 he has been a painter and a freelance illustrator. His illustrations have appeared in Time Magazine, the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Boston Globe, and others. He has also illustrated a number of book covers, and his paintings have been exhibited in museums in the United States. Johnson has also received a number of awards.
