Content Description
This collection consists of materials created by Joel Peter Johnson, a graphic designer. The materials include journals of
sketches and final design examples, especially book covers, illustrations within books, and illustrations in magazines. The
materials also include correspondence, awards, invoices, pamphlets, posters, newsletters, articles about Joel P. Johnson,
and a small amount of photographs.
Biographical / Historical
Joel Peter Johnson (born Bronx, New York) is a painter, graphic designer, illustrator, lecturer, photographer, and art director.
Since 1987 he has been a painter and a freelance illustrator. His illustrations have appeared in Time Magazine, the New York
Times, Sports Illustrated, Boston Globe, and others. He has also illustrated a number of book covers, and his paintings have
been exhibited in museums in the United States. Johnson has also received a number of awards.
