Abstract: The Academic and Professional Women of UCI is a long-standing group dedicated to supporting staff, faculty, and students with an emphasis on supporting the women of UCI. Their stated goals are: to develop an awareness amongst faculty, staff, and other campus entities about the contributions of women to the mission of UCI, to provide activities and support other campus groups in contributing to the advancement of women at UCI, to create networking and communication spaces for women, as well as serve as a space for the women to collectively contribute to the decision making process on campus and in the community especially in issues directly affecting women. Amplify Womxn of UCI: Hearing Our Stories, an initiative within the Academic and Professional Women of UCI, was video series described by its creators as a way to aid in the eradication of anti-Black and anti-inclusive mindsets through 5-minute mini interviews in which guests (UCI staff, faculty, and retirees) share their personal experiences with discrimination and/or profiling based on race, gender, disability, and/or other pieces of their identity. The Amplify series took inspiration from the Black Lives Matter Movement and sought to create a space for the women at UC Irvine to be heard.
