Scottish photographer of Dundee, well-known for portraits and landscape view. James Valentine, joined in his studio by his
sons, William Dobson Valentine, and George D. Valentine, targeted the middle and upper class tourist market, producing drawing
room albums of landscapes of Scotland, and later, England, Jamaica, Norway, Morocco, and New Zealand.

The photographs document the architecture of Lude House, its formal gardens, with summer house, stables, and workers' cottages.
Views of nearby lakes and mountains, including Loch Moraig and Ben y Gloe, the falls on the River Fender, and rapids on the
Tilt. The final 10 photos document a deerstalking party, which includes Mr. W.L. Winans, his son Mr. Walter Winans, and Mr.
