This collection consists of manuscripts, notes, research materials, newspaper clippings, legal correspondence and cases, photographs
and other materials documenting the life of Maurice "Jo" Jourdane. The materials cover Jourdane's work with the California
Rural Legal Assistance, Diana v. California State Board of Education, Carmona v. Division of Industrial Safety, Jourdane v.
Oglesy Brothers and other legal cases.
Background
Maurice Jourane is a civil rights lawyer, judge, and author. He worked with the Californai Rural Legal Assistance, United
Farm Workers, and other organizations to improve civil rights for agricultural laborers in California.
