Biography
Robert Jesse Stoller was born December 15, 1924 in Bronxville, New York; BA and MA, psychology, University of California
at Berkeley; became professor of psychiatry at UCLA School of Medicine, 1954; wrote many books, including
Sex and gender: on the Development of Masculinity and Femininity (1968),
Splitting: a Case of Female Masculinity (1973), and
Observing the Erotic Imagination (1985); co-wrote
Cognitive Science and Psychoanalysis (1988) with K.M. Colby; died in Los Angeles on September 6, 1991.

Collection consists of correspondence, research files, publications, manuscripts, notes, and lectures related to the activities
and career of Robert J. Stoller at the UCLA School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry.
