Description
Joe Grant Masaoka was born in Fresno, California, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was Regional Director of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) in Denver, Colorado, from 1942-51 and established the Northern California regional office in San Francisco. This collection consists of correspondence, reports, legal briefs, and other documents related to the work of Mr. Masaoka.
Background
Joe Grant Masaoka was born in Fresno, California, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was Regional Director of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) in Denver, Colorado from 1942-51 and established the JACL Northern California regional office in San Francisco. He was a public relations consultant from 1951-64 and the Japanese American Research Project Administrator for the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1964-70. Mr. Masaoka died ca. 1970.
