    Biographical Note

    David D. Oliphant was an American lawyer who served as chairman of the Four Minute Men of Alameda County, California, from 1917 to 1918.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The collection contains correspondence, speakers' schedules, memoranda, and printed matter related to Four Minute Men speakers at war loan drives in Alameda County during World War I. Members of the Four Minute Men gave speeches that were not to exceed four minutes in length. The Committee on Public Information provided the content for their speeches. The group was disbanded in 1919. The collection includes speeches and other materials related to the Liberty Loans.
