Born Margaret June Taylor on June 9, 1925 in Peoria, Illinois, Peggy Carey's interest in genealogy began after her marriage to Leo Carey on August 16, 1946. Her mother-in-law claimed the Carey family as descendents of Mary, Queen of Scots. This information intrigued her and led Peggy to her lifelong love of genealogical research.
