Description
Elizabeth Snyder (1914- ) was the first woman chairman of the California State Democratic Committee (1954-56). The collection consists of books, pamphlets, reports, clippings, and other printed material related to women's rights.
Background
Snyder was born as Elizabeth Ingrid Louise Carlson on April 8, 1914, in Minneapolis, Minnesota; AB, UCLA, 1935; campaign worker for Jerry Voorhis, 1936; national committeewoman, Young Democrats, 1938-42; first woman chairman, California State Democratic Committee, 1954-56; married Nathan H. Snyder, a Los Angeles attorney.
