Description
These records were kept by Luis O. Reyes and include correspondence, minutes, meeting notes, mailing lists, and financial records. Correspondents include Richard W. Lyman, Ronald D. Arroyo, Jorge Pineiro, and Frank Bonilla. Much of the material pertains to a recruiting trip to New York, Chicago, and Puerto Rico in the fall of 1979. Also included is a paper by Luis O. Reyes, "The Four Puerto Rican Nationalists: A Personal Reflection."
Background
The Puerto Rican Association, a student organization at Stanford University, was organized ca. 1977 as Asociación de Puertorriqueños Unidos de Stanford. The activities of the Association included trips to recruit Puerto Rican and minority candidates for graduate programs at Stanford, symposia, speakers, and social events.
