    Abstract: Warren R. Cothran (1938-1980) served as Professor of Entomology at the University of California, Davis from 1968-1980. His papers contain several of his articles as well as his course materials for Entomology 104. Also included are 35mm color slides that Cothran photographed and used for the plant ecology unit of his Entomology 104 course. The majority of the slides were taken in California with several images from New York, Arizona, and Mexico.

    Biography

    Warren Roderic Cothran (1938-1980) received a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a teaching credential from San Jose State College in 1962 and a Ph.D in Entomology from Cornell University in 1967. He joined the Department of Entomology at the University of California, Davis in 1968 as an Assistant Professor of Entomology and Assistant Entomologist in the Experiment Station. Cothran's research focused on the control of the insect pests of alfalfa, especially the alfalfa weevil.

    Scope and Content

    The Warren R. Cothran Papers contain several of his articles as well as his course materials for Entomology 104. Also included are 35mm color slides that Cothran photographed and used for the plant ecology unit of his Entomology 104 course. The majority of the slides were taken in California with several images from New York, Arizona, and Mexico.
