Biography / Administrative History
Xenia Prochorowa was born in Moscow in 1915. She studied piano at the Moscow Conservatory with Prof. Karl Kipp, and later
with Nicolas Medtner. In 1933 she was the winner of the International Franz Liszt Competition in Budapest. She toured offering
concerts and master classes throughout the American continent from 1933-1952, and through Europe from 1952-1963. In 1964
she was appointed piano lecturer at the College of Music, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Scope and Content of Collection
Xenia Prochorowa's collection consists of a handful of letters, documents, photographs, programs, clippings and announcements
of concerts and new recordings.
