The Huntington Library does not require that researchers request permission to quote from or publish images of this material, nor does it charge fees for such activities. The responsibility for identifying the copyright holder, if there is one, and obtaining necessary permissions rests with the researcher.
Because the Huntington owns only typed transcripts of these letters sent to Henry White (with the exception of HM 66720) and the location of the originals or any current heirs to his estate are unknown, we may not legally authorize their publication. We will, however, provide copies for reference and research purposes under the doctrine of “fair use.”
