Scope and Content of Collection
The collections include a banquet menu and itinerary for a visit to Hercules by county supervisors from around California
in May 1903; a ledger book with the name W. R. Veale that lists accounts or investments from the 1890s and also includes
precinct voter registration rolls for the County in 1902; mementos from Sheriff Veale’s re-election campaign in 1934; a book
of property title searches requested by Louis Stein that shows property titles for a portion of the Alhambra Valley (Rancho
Canada del Hambre) from 1869-1914 compiled at Stein’s request by the Martinez Abstract and Title Company; and an 1822-edition
bible with the name “Bob Stein” stamped on its opening page. Bob Stein may be related to Louis Stein. A connection between
the bible and Veale is unclear.
