Description
Nevada County, California, newspapers from the Gold Rush forward. Short run of Yerba Buena [San Francisco] paper 1847-1848. See "Additional Collection Guides" for newspaper titles and years of publication.
Background
Nevada County, California, original part of Alta California and then Yuba County, California, after statehood, became a California county in 1851. The "Nevada Journal" was established that year, followed by a few dozen additional titles into late 20th century. Issues have been preserved, mostly on microfilm, and are available for examination and printed copies.
