Scope and content:

Primarily manuscripts and typescripts of a musician who delivered lectures. Box 1 contains manuscripts and typescripts (of speeches?)(undated.) There are also brochures advertising her lectures and several photographs (1943, undated.) Box 2 contains printed sheet music. Box 3 is filled with 35 rpm recordings of Stening playing musical instruments. Box 4 contains books (1847-1948.)

Biographical / historical:

Stening, a native of Australia, was a musician who delivered lectures about rare stringed instruments, as well as other topics including ancient history, Australian cultural and natural history, and music. She lived in New York prior to Redondo Beach (Calif.).
