Description
The materials consist of written music, scores, and assorted paperwork related to the career of composer Ami Aloni. Aloni worked as a music director and composer for the film and television industry.
Background
Aminadav "Ami" Aloni (1928-1999) moved to New York at the age of 18, where he studied piano and composition at The Juilliard School of Music. Aloni moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s to work in the film and television industry. He served as music director and composer on television programs, telethons, and films. His work has been featured in various productions including The Great Waldo Pepper, Roots, and Exodus. He served at Valley Beth Shalom in Encino for 25 years as Music Director. Aloni also directed the synagogue choir. His compositions written for the synagogue include more than 100 commissions for the liturgy and dramatic work, which are performed in synagogues and concert halls across the United States and throughout the world.
