Background
The Board of Monterey Peninsula Communities, Inc.(Monterey Peninsula, Inc.) was established in June 1923 by the President
of the Board, Allen Griffin, publisher and editor of the Monterey Peninsula Daily Herald, and a board including Dr. J. P.
Sandholdt, Benjamin F. Wright, Jack Beaumont and others. Monterey Peninsula Communities promoted the beauty, history and enterprises
of the Monterey Peninsula, a peninsula-wide chamber of commerce, through advertisements and events.The organization, with
an office located in the historic Pacific House, depended on subscriptions from local businesses and organizations, and sponsored
the publication of the successful promotional and tourist booklet, Fulfillment (1923) by Clyde O. Bedell.
